Thermal Fields

Heat up profits from your thermal fields

Thermal recovery is often used to produce heavy oil, generally is defined as having high specific gravity (API gravity of 4-17 degrees) and a high viscosity (typically above 10 cP). It is frequently necessary to heat these oils to reduce their viscosity enough to get them to flow.

Because of the effects of the applied heat during thermal recovery the oil undergoes physical and chemical changes. Among the properties altered are:

  • Viscosity
  • Specific gravity
  • Interfacial tension
  • Cracking
  • Dehyrdrogenation

These physical and chemical changes can increase the likelihood of downhole damage mechanisms such as asphaltene, paraffin, scale, emulsion block and changes in wettability. Many technologies and services used for conventional oil to address these damage mechanisms face limitations when dealing with these highly viscous oils.
To meet these challenges, Enova offers customized, proprietary, technical solutions to address the unique needs of your field. These high effectively solutions are based upon 100 years of experience in thermal heavy oil production.

Enova offers a comprehensive set of solutions for Heavy Oil Production and Recovery from thermal fields.
